Former Assam DGP passes away

Jnanananda Sharma Pathak, who retired as the DGP of Assam died today after a heart attack.
Pathak is one of the best known poets of Assam and has published quite a few books.

He was the first IPS officer from Assam. He had chosen IPS despite being selected for IAS. This was because of his desire to serve the state.

Pathak, ex student of BHU was gold meddalist from his university.

Bangladesh not guilty:centre

NEW DELHI, Aug 17 – The escalating tension between Border Security Force and Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) notwithstanding, the Centre today dismissed reports of Bangladesh grabbing 500 acres of Indian territory. In a Rajya Sabha reply, Minister of State for External Affairs, E.Ahmed said that reports about Bangladeshi nationals grabbing 2.02 sq km of Indian Territory have been found to be incorrect.
